The 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season kicks off today, Friday, August 28, 2026, with a flag-off fixture between hosts Shooting Stars SC and visiting Inter Lagos in Ibadan.
The remaining nine fixtures of the opening round will be played on Sunday, August 30, as all 20 clubs begin the new campaign. The season arrives fresh off the league’s newly announced three-year, $7.5 million title sponsorship deal with EuroMatch, unveiled this week in Abuja.
Fans and pundits will be watching closely to see which clubs can challenge for the title after a competitive close to last season, with the NPFL continuing efforts to raise its commercial profile and improve production standards across match broadcasts.
