Tinubu Begins Three-Week Leave to Europe

President Bola Tinubu has begun a three-week leave to Europe, with London as his first stop, while Vice President Kashim Shettima is also away in Angola for the African Union summit.

President Bola Tinubu has begun a three-week vacation to Europe, departing Nigeria on Sunday, August 30, 2026, with London named as his first stop, according to presidency officials.

The president's trip comes as Vice President Kashim Shettima is separately away in Angola representing Nigeria at an African Union summit, meaning both principal officers of the executive arm will be outside the country simultaneously for part of the period. Presidency sources say governance will continue uninterrupted, with the necessary constitutional arrangements in place.

Tinubu's office has not detailed his full itinerary or activities during the trip, which is expected to last approximately three weeks. The president is due to return to full duties in Abuja in the second half of September.
