Manchester United thrashed Ipswich Town 5-2 in the Premier League on Sunday, August 30, 2026, with captain Bruno Fernandes scoring a hat-trick to lead the rout at Old Trafford.
The result marks a significant response from United after a disappointing opening-day defeat to Hull City, with Fernandes' treble underlining his importance to the side under the club's current management. United dominated large spells of the match, converting their chances clinically against a resilient but ultimately outmatched Ipswich side.
The win lifts United's spirits early in the season and will be seen as a statement performance ahead of a busy fixture schedule. Ipswich, who were promoted to the Premier League, will look to regroup as they continue to find their footing at the top flight.
