The Independent National Electoral Commission's Continuous Voter Registration exercise closes today, marking the final opportunity for eligible Nigerians to register ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the closure of its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise today, Sunday, August 30, 2026, drawing the curtain on the registration window ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The exercise also covered the claims and objections period, during which registered voters could update their details, request transfers, or apply for replacement of their Permanent Voter Cards. INEC has urged all party stakeholders, including the APC, ADC and NDC, to encourage supporters to complete their registration before the deadline.
The commission is expected to begin cleaning and collating the voter register in the coming weeks, ahead of the display of the preliminary register of voters for public scrutiny. Political parties across the country have used the final days of the registration window to intensify voter mobilisation drives.
